Our Commitment to the Environment

Sustainability

At Condron Concrete, sustainability is more than just a commitment—it’s part of our everyday operations. As one of Ireland’s leading concrete manufacturers, we understand the responsibility we have to protect the environment for future generations. That’s why we’ve embedded sustainability into every aspect of our business, from how we power our operations to how we manage waste and support biodiversity.

We believe that long-term success must go hand in hand with environmental responsibility. By reducing our carbon footprint, embracing innovation, and investing in greener practices, we’re helping to build a more sustainable construction industry—one that benefits our community, our customers, and the planet.

Condron Concrete has invested significantly in on-site solar energy generation to reduce reliance on traditional power sources and lower overall energy consumption. 1,300 solar panels have been installed across the facility to generate renewable electricity that directly supports day-to-day operations.

By producing clean energy on site, Condron Concrete reduces carbon emissions, improves energy efficiency, and strengthens energy independence. This investment supports long-term sustainability while helping to future-proof the business against rising energy costs.

Biodiversity plays an important role in Condron Concrete’s sustainability strategy. On-site beehives have been introduced to support pollinators and enhance the local ecosystem surrounding the facility.

The bees contribute to biodiversity while producing honey, which we gift to clients and the local community, and the initiative helps raise awareness of the importance of protecting pollinators. It is a practical and meaningful step toward supporting the natural environment alongside industrial operations.

Condron Concrete has transitioned key areas of its operations to electric forklifts, replacing traditional powered machinery.

Electric forklifts produce zero on-site emissions, operate more quietly, and are more energy efficient. This improves air quality within the facility, reduces environmental impact, and creates a safer and more comfortable working environment for employees.

As part of its transport sustainability strategy, Condron Concrete has introduced electric vans into its fleet for operational use.

Electric vans reduce fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions while supporting cleaner logistics. This transition helps lower the company’s carbon footprint and demonstrates a commitment to more sustainable transport solutions across the business.

Condron Concrete operates an advanced rainwater recycling system that captures rainwater across the site and channels it into a silt pond, where it is naturally filtered.

Once cleaned, the water is processed and reused throughout the facility in key production processes such as screening and manufacturing. This system significantly reduces reliance on council and traditional water sources, helping conserve water and improve operational efficiency.

Natural planting has been incorporated throughout Condron Concrete’s office spaces to enhance indoor environments and improve staff wellbeing.

Plants help improve air quality, reduce stress, and create a more comfortable and productive workspace. This initiative reflects the company’s belief that sustainability also includes creating healthy environments for its people.

Condron Concrete operates an ongoing tree planting programme focused on environmental responsibility and long-term impact.

Trees help absorb carbon dioxide, support biodiversity, and improve the surrounding landscape. This programme represents a long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and contributes positively to the wider community and ecosystem.

Condron Concrete has made a conscious move toward paperless operations across administration, communication, and documentation.

By reducing paper use, the company lowers waste, cuts printing and storage requirements, and improves efficiency through digital workflows. This approach supports sustainability while streamlining internal processes.

Recycling plays a central role in Condron Concrete’s manufacturing processes. Plastic pipe offcuts are collected and recycled into pellets, which are then reused in the production of dry verge roofing products.

Polystyrene offcuts are also fully recycled, ensuring minimal waste. This circular approach reduces landfill use, maximises material efficiency, and supports responsible manufacturing practices.

Condron Concrete continues to invest in modern trucks that offer improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

These vehicles help reduce environmental impact while maintaining reliable delivery and service standards. Upgrading the fleet is a key part of the company’s wider sustainability journey and commitment to cleaner transport.

LED lighting has been installed across Condron Concrete’s facilities to improve energy efficiency and reduce electricity usage.

LED lights consume less power, have a longer lifespan, and reduce maintenance requirements. This initiative lowers energy consumption and contributes to a safer, brighter working environment.

At Condron Concrete, we’re not just building products—we’re building a better, greener future.
